Purekeys keyboard

The briefing was to design a top quality medical keyboard, to be used in medical environments like hospitals and dental clinics. For its required cleanability the product should have a silicone sleeve, covering a set of mechanical keys to ensure tactile feedback when touching the keys. Goal was to combine maximum infection control with excellent tactile key response. The design should be top class, innovative and as thin as possible.
The design challenge was to find a way to make the design as thin as possible, and figuring out a firm construction to realize enough stability of the product. A slightly curved top surface emphasizes the one sweep clean effect. It also gives the product a well defined innovative appearance.
